My Blog Crushes & Bloggity Resolutions

I am a blogger, therefore, I love blogs.

Specifically, I love blogs written by slightly offbeat, introverted, free-spirited, crafty types who love food, art, and have a tendency toward the OCD.

If you have bopped around on the various sections and pages of this here blog, you will notice I follow a freaking ton of blogs of all genres, shapes and sizes. But there are some, the Daily Reads, on my main blog page, that I read obsessively every time they post.

And of those, there are a few that I have serious blog crushes on to the point their authors might think I have stalker tendencies (at least if they knew how often they appear in my bloggity fantasies, which most of them don’t, because I creep around their blogs like a silent ninja, lest I freak them out with my love).

Today, I let my stalkery adoration out into the open, because if you read my blog, you need to be reading theirs too. So please, click through (either on the blog name or photo) and love them as I do. Let’s get to the love!

Technical Kaplooey | Please Stand By

Ghengis has lost his damn mind.

Ghengis is the name of my Alienware MX17 laptop computer o’love. Because he is a beast. And he is dying, I think. I backed everything up to my external hard drive yesterday and attempted to wipe him back to factory settings, but to no avail.

Alienware MX17

I took him to the shop today, so hopefully they can work their magic and get him fixed. Either way, I think I’m going to have to try to start socking away some cash for a new computer. Perhaps I will name it Gandalf.

Right now I’m working on an itty bitty little Acer my mom loaned me, which cramps my hands just to type.

What I’m saying is, until Ghengis is back up and running, I will be taking a brief blog hiatus.

Wish me (and Ghengis) luck,

Welcome to My New Home

Welcome to the new home of Leave Me to My Projects, on my very own, hosted, registered domain, for real blog.

I am in the process of transferring over the old leavemetomyprojects.blogspot.com to the new site here, but I imagine it might take a little time, so I will be officially relaunching LMTMP on February 2nd, 2012.

In the meantime, you can still find me on Facebook, or follow me on Twitter or Pinterest.

There are so many wonderful things coming, you wouldn’t want to miss all the goodness, now would you?

Big Changes

Well everyone, I did it. I switched to WordPress. I have had quite enough of spending the majority of my limited blogging time monkeying around with formatting and fighting Blogger. It has been fantastic for getting my feet wet and I quite enjoyed it here for a time.

But this is not the end, it is the beginning! I will be working on the full transfer to my new, very own, hosted, registered domain, for real blog. I’m going pro.

I have decided to be like the groundhog. Until February 2nd, 2012 (my dad’s birthday, coincidentally) I am going to hibernate, plan, execute, and get this thing off the ground. I will still be posting to Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest in the meantime, with occasional updates on the progress on here.

Thanks for sticking with me!

31 Days to Build a Better Blog

I’m very excited about today.

You see, I’m hoping to make this whole blogging thing a regular thing. As in, a serious endeavor, for which I make schedules and do really fun stuff in Google Analytics. I will be geeking right out.

For the past few days I have been working on some of the behind the scenes activities, such as getting my RSS feed working, and undertaking a challenge from ProBlogger.net. It is the 31 Days to Build a Better Blog challenge, and while I absolutely will not be completing it in 31 days, I am going to go step by step to make this blog more focused, more organized and more useful to all of you guys.

Day 1 of the challenge involves Writing an Elevator Pitch. Yeah, I didn’t know what that was either:

“An elevator pitch is an overview of an idea for a product, service, or project. The name reflects the fact that an elevator pitch can be delivered in the time span of an elevator ride (for example, thirty seconds, or 100–150
words).”—Wikipedia

Essentially, it is something I need to have prepared when someone asks me what my blog is about. I know what it is about, but not having specific wording ready usually left me mumbling something like “um…crafts and food and…projects and stuff…” There are these times when I can be clever and witty and funny and ON, but more often than not I’m an awkward nervous mess when I have to come up with something off the top of my head.

This is why I want to be a writer, not a public speaker.

Pinned ImageRandom person, perhaps even someone who makes me all giggly and tongue-tied like this: “So, what’s you blog all about?”

Me, all cool and confident-like:

It’s all about what happens when an offbeat little hermit of a tomboy finds herself entering into the uncharted realm of family, kids and domesticity.
Luckily, I have a pathological knack for information and inspiration gathering, which I love to funnel into all kinds of DIY and artistic endeavors. It is also quite useful for making all of the things I needto get done in life a little cheaper, prettier, easier and more fun.
This is the place to find offbeat inspiration, tips, tricks and tutorials for living well and making order out of the chaos in your head, your home, your life and your world.
And now that we’re clear on that, I’m working on a much better title image and am ready and waiting with my new tagline. I’m hoping to have those completed if not today, this week.
Things are going to get real.
