Pre-Baby Cleanse Week 2

Have you even done a cleanse or detox before?

This is the first time for Papa Bear and I, and man, the first week was rough.

In the first week, I found myself barely able to put together a coherent sentence, which can be a bit of a problem as a barber. I was foggy, tired, achy, and floppy all over. On a diet of only fruit, vegetables, lentils, nuts, and seeds, my body was fighting me pretty hard.

But wouldn’t you know it, toward the end of the week, I started to feel downright sproingy! Now we enter week two, adding back in fish, all legumes and some gluten-free grains. I don’t know how things will start to affect me, but I will say that yesterday we cheated a little with a Sunday latte, and my tummy has not been very happy about it.

Does that mean I’m giving up coffee for good after this whole thing is done? Hell no. Coffee is my boo. I love it beyond all reason. But I might have to cut back on the dairy a little bit.

The main reason that this is the first time I have tried a detox is that most of them seem to be arbitrarily restrictive, and just about flushing out the body with extremes like fasting and chugging awful liquids. This one through Whole Living is more about giving yourself a clean slate (while still eating a whole lot of food) to then focus on an awareness of how your body reacts to various foods.

The best thing is, pretty much every recipe we have tried so far is delicious to the point that I will likely be adding them into our regular rotation.

So if you haven’t been feeling your best lately, why don’t you try the cleanse along with us? You can find all of the recipes and the whole plan right here.
