Our Intimately Modern Pagan Full Moon Foodie Wedding Part 2

On Friday I shared our magical wedding ceremony.

Tru Wedding Reception

It was the best day of our lives, and everything we could have ever hoped. But wait, there’s totally more! Now we’re off to the reception at Tru.

After the wedding we zoomed through the streets of Chicago to Tru. Tyler and I are huge foodies, but have never been able to justify the price tag of a truly transcendent meal on our salaries. When you’re having such an itty bitty wedding, though, even we could afford to treat those closest to us to an incredibly special night. It was even what you would call a budget wedding!

Dinner was unbelievable, but we’ll get to that on Wednesday! All of the people that are the closest to us (minus the Baby Bear, her mom and her other daddy for the reception – it would have been too long a night for the wee one) were there, and there was so much love and laughter in the air. See?

The sheer amount of great candids was unreal, but I wanted to share just a few of my favorites here.

And now for the part that made my brain explode. On our wedding day, we got to tour the Tru kitchen and hang out with Chef Martin. EEK! My favorite part of the kitchen was the little beta fish, both males, that live in the same tank in peace and harmony. They are sort of the kitchen mascots. Be like the fish…

In the private room we were in, there were these two windows that are recessed by 10 feet or so. Of course, with people-sized holes in the wall, we had to climb in and take some pictures.

Although we picked a full moon for our wedding night, it was a little overcast – not that the clouds diminish the moon power one bit. There was wonderful energy everywhere, all night.

We decided to walk the little way back to the hotel, because when you’re riding such a moon high for the night, all you can do is walk it off. So we asked a random passing police cruiser if we were going the right way. First words out of my mouth? “HI OFFICER! WE JUST GOT MARRIED! WHICH WAY TO WALTON?” Eventually seester GPSed it, and we found our way.

It was the best night of our lives, and we were so happy to have all of the people that are there for us every day right there with us as we started our new life together. Last night we had our big post-wedding party where we got to celebrate with ALL of the important people in our lives and it was just magical.

On Wednesday I’ll be sharing part 3, the FOOD. Thank you so much for letting me share with all of you!
